About Us

Clapham Canoe Club was established in 1990 with financial help from Lambeth Council. The club's main activity is Canoe Polo, which is a bit like waterpolo or basketball in canoes. The club also run a Beginners session which is open to the public.

The club is based in Clapham , (South London), where it has run regular pool sessions at Clapham Leisure Centre since the club started. The polo session moved to Tooting Leisure Centre in 2010 when the old Clapham leisure centre was closed for 2 years during re-build,  The beginners sessions are run at the new Clapham Leisure Centre whilst the polo sessions remain at the larger pool at Tooting LC.

The club has a small membership but there is a hard core of members who have been playing polo regularly with the club since the club began. Our polo team is currently competing in Division 2 South in the National Leagues. We also compete in the Regional league and some summer tournaments.

We bought 10 new polo/pool trainer kayaks and associated kit in 2005, thanks to a lottery award from Awards for All.
