Taking throws

When the ball goes out of play or the whistle is blown by a referee each team member should react quickly to the change in play, (e.g. If the opposition were attacking and a free throw has been awarded against them, then your team has gained possession and you should change quickly from defending to attack). Look at the referee and

see the signal that is being displayed and react quickly accordingly.

Do not use ball out of play as a resting period but use it to get into position for attack or defence as need be. (e.g. If the opposition team has gained possession of the ball then drop back immediately or mark an opposition player).

Always look for a ‘quick break’ if your team has just gained possession of the ball.

Likewise try to cover any ‘quick break’ by the opposition team when they gain possession.

Don’t forget to present the ball when taking the throw or you will be blown up by the referee and lose possession for your team!
